This is another recipe I found written up in my godmother’s handwriting. I added some clove essence to it, the essence made by the magician Mandy Aftel.  - lovely flavor and just perfect for the autumn. 

4 cups whole milk

3/4 c sugar

pinch of salt

2 T butter

1/2 uncooked rice 

1/2 tsp vanilla

1/3 c raisins or currants

Preheat the oven to 300F. 

Place the rack in the center. In a shallow casserole dish, mix milk, sugar, salt, butter (melted) and rice. 

Bake uncovered for 2 hours stirring from time to time.

Add the vanilla and raisins, stir well. Sprinkle a bit of cinnamon over the top and bake for another hour allowing skin to form on top. Remove from the oven and cut around the edges so that the skin will sink along with the rest of the pudding.

Serve warm or chilled. Tasty with whipped cream to cut the sweetness.

Serves 6.
